Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week......

Thank goodness last week is OVER!!!  It did not go like I had planned!  We expected school to start back on Tuesday and things to get back into a routine.  Well, Emma started running a fever Monday and she already had a cough...so it was off to the doctor Monday afternoon.  She would not cooperate with the doctor.  So, he just said it was something respiratory, gave us some cough medicine and a steroid for the cough and sent us home with instructions to call back within a few days if the fever was still there and he'd call us in an antibiotic.  Well, she continued to run the fever Tuesday and Wednesday.  So, I called back and they finally called her in an antibiotic.  By Thursday afternoon the fever was gone but all the green junk started pouring out of her nose.  We finally got to go back to school on Friday.  I got there to pick them up and Melissa was holding Evan.  That meant one of two things.  Either he was bad or not feeling well.  You guessed it...he wasn't feeling well.  Got home and checked...his temperature was 102.6 or higher.  By the time the thermometer got that high...I didn't fight him anymore.   So, off to the doctor I went with him.  No RSV, no flu...so other than cough medicine...she didn't give us anything either.  You could tell he didn't feel good at all yesterday but he has seemed better today.  Hopefully we will get back on our routine this week!  Maybe I shouldn't even say that and jinx ourselves! :)  Yesterday was Corley & Cooper's birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheeses.  That was a T-TOTAL nightmare!!   They were terrified of the mouse!  I think for the first hour...Evan wouldn't let Justin even put him down.  Everywhere we went...there was that stinking mouse!  Emma was okay as long as he didn't come close.  Evan eventually got down and played the arcade games with Justin but he didn't want to go anywhere near the food or party section.  I have to tell you about the mouse and Emma.  She was wild the whole time we were there.  I would like to blame it on the steroids she is on...but I am afraid it is just the terrible twos.  She was running from me and almost ran straight into the mouse.  He rounded one corner about the same time she did.  It was priceless to see her turn so quickly and run right back to me.  That will teach her.  Maybe we need a mouse costume to keep at home for ever time they misbehave! :)  I can't believe this is my second post in a row with no pictures.  We have just been to sick and yucky to even take any pictures.  Emma & Evan both got haircuts this week.  I decided to start taking them to Sally Swancey for hair cuts.  She did a good job and they both did excellent for their first time there.   I also found out this week that His Radio isn't doing the Hearts 4 Kids valentines this year.  Not really sure why because they always seemed to be real involved in that but they aren't.  So, I didn't have a clue what I was going to do with these valentines we had already made.  I was talking to the girls in my office about it Wednesday.  Thursday, Patsy came to work with the perfect place to send my valentine's cards.  Her husband is a veteran and had gotten a newsletter in the mail Wednesday from the local chapter, which is housed in the old Greenwood Library.  You will never believe what they were asking for...Valentine's Day cards to take to the Veteran's hospital in Augusta.  How perfect was that!  I was so excited that someone will get to appreciate our hard work! So, I will be dropping those off tomorrow to send to the Veteran's!  Yay!  That's it for now.  We have a busy week ahead...so check back for a circus update!  Have a great week!

P.S.--we have some exciting news in the Reid household!  We can finally tell that their will be a new baby joining our family in August!  NO it isn't me!  Alison is expecting.  She wouldn't let us tell people until she got a little farther along.  We are so excited for them!

If we are obedient with a little...He will entrust us with a lot!

We are doing a marriage and money unit in our Sunday school class.  For you guys that know me...know this is right up my alley!  I love some financial planning!  I already have our budget made out for the entire year of 2014!  I know that is a little over the top.  But hey...if you don't have a plan...you don't have a goal to work toward!  So, the Turner's have a plan and some goals for this year!  One of the things Fred talked about today was that if God can't trust you to be obedient with a little, why do we expect him to give us a lot?  Would we handle a lot any differently??  Of course he was talking about money but it fits into so many areas of our life.  Ultimately nothing is ours!  It all belongs to God and we are called to be good stewards or keepers of someone else's stuff.  How many times do we hold things back from God when they are His to begin with??  I was sitting at the doctor's office this week waiting for what seemed like an eternity and I was reading the bible on my phone.  I can't even remember who the story was about but this man & wife had sold their property and lied to God about what profit they made in hopes of keeping the extra money for themselves.  God asked the both separately about the money they made off the land and struck each of them dead when they lied to Him.  My point is when He gives us small things he expects us to be good stewards with those small things.  Once He knows He can trust us with those small things...He will gives us more.  We spend so much time worrying about getting a new house or a new car or a raise, but are we using the things He has already given us for His glory??  If not...why do we expect Him to give us more.  This reminds me of a post I saw on Facebook this week that said it doesn't matter how big your house is, the size of your car, or how large your bank account is...our graves will all be the same size.  How true is that??  It isn't going with us!! Just something to think about!   So, what have the Turner's been up too??  Not much!  We went to Anne Hollis' birthday party Saturday at the Gymnastic center.  Emma & Evan loved it.  There were trampolines, ball pits, all kinds of things to climb and swing on...what kid wouldn't love it??  I have been thinking about taking Emma to the Mommy & Me tumbling class at Anna's gym.  I knew she would like it but after seeing her Saturday...I know she will love it.  She has pretty good balance and loves to flip!!  Evan just rolls around.  I don't think being a gymnast is in his future! So, we may start that class soon!  We had a Sunday school social Saturday afternoon but we didn't make it.  They went bowling and out for pizza afterwards.  Justin & Chad were finally able to work on his truck brakes and didn't finish fixing them until after 7:00.  Thankfully...they are good to go now!  We hopefully will get back into a routine this week with school starting back and no more breaks for a while!  Then, we have Corley & Cooper's birthday parties next weekend.  My crazy in-laws planned this party for 12:30 at Chuck-E-Cheese on a cold Saturday.  That place is going to be a MAD house.  I just hope E&E aren't scared of the mouse! Then, the following weekend we are heading to the circus!  I am super excited about that.  I hope Emma & Evan will love it!  Then, it will be Valentine's day!  I think Emma & Evan are getting fish for Valentine's day!  This will be their first "pets".  We thought about getting them a rabbit for Easter but I think the fish will be better.  They don't require as much care and with twins we don't need something that needs a lot of care!  I figure they can help us feed them everyday and Justin will in charge of cleaning the tank!  He's so thrilled, I tell ya!  Just wanted to give a little update and say I hope you all have a great week!!

2014 is off with a bang...

Well, the year has started!  I spent all last Friday afternoon, the 3rd, trimming Emma's room in the pink color I just knew was going to be perfect. I wasn't really thrilled with the color but thought maybe it was the fact that I could still see the brown and once the whole room was painted I would like it.  WRONG!!!  Justin rolled the walls Saturday morning and I HATED it!  It was TOO pink and I love pink!!  So, since Saturday was Alison's birthday...we had to celebrate and the painting would wait until Sunday.  We all went to momma's for supper and to celebrate with Alison.  Here is a picture of one of my sweeties with their two favorite aunts!
Happy birthday Alison.

I think 34 is going to be a great year for her!!  So, Sunday after church and lunch at momma's...we went home and put E&E down for naps and I headed to Lowe's for some more paint!  This time I chose yellow.  Again it was the lightest yellow I could find.  Justin started trimming as soon as I got home.  It was going to take two coats to cover that pink.  After supper, baths, & getting E&E in the bed...I grabbed a roller and started painting too.  It was almost midnight before we finished but it looks MUCH better. Her room is almost finished now.  I am going to have a lady paint this sweet little saying I found over her bed for me and it will be done.  I will have to post more on that later.  Monday was a good day back into our normal routine.  E&E were back at school and didn't misbehave.  Tuesday was bitter cold and school was cancelled.  All day Tuesday...Justin kept telling me how cold he was and that he couldn't get warm.  Once he got home from work...I checked his temperature and it was 101.  So immediately I sent him to Doctor's Care.  Yep...he had the flu!  So, after a $25 dr. visit, $138 on medicine, and two days out of work...he realized the flu shot would have been much cheaper.  So, as soon as he came home he was confined to the bedroom for the next few days.  He didn't come out and we didn't go in there.  So of course I cancelled our annual gathering with my 96 girls that was supposed to be at my house this past Saturday night.  We probably could have had it but I wasn't sure if we would still be sick or not.  Thankfully I don't think any of us caught the flu...but we did have our flu shots!! Things at work are going to be totally different in 2014.  We sold our lab to an outside company so that means lots of changes are coming to D&F.  I'm still not sure what all that will mean for me but I do know it means no more switchboard!!  YAY!!!  I have been a fill in for answering the phone for 10 years now and I am GLAD to see that responsibility be passed on to someone else!  I know some other changes are coming but they are still working out all the details. I have been busy on my monogram machine!  I made Emma & Evan Valentine's day shirts.  Are they cute or what???

I also made them each another shirt but I haven't taken pictures of those so you will just have to trust me when I say they are cute!! :) We also made our Hearts 4 Kids Valentine's Day cards.  His Radio does this every year and they take the cards to kids in the hospital.  So, we started this tradition last year.  This year we did something a little different.  Emma & Evan really helped this year.  I know it is early but since it is raining and we couldn't go outside I decided to go ahead and make these.  Here are a couple pictures of our process and the final product.
Ready to paint!!

My two sweeties after they had finished with their first "Love Bug"!  Momma only had to help a little.  I am too OCD to let them do it themselves when we are sending these to sick kids!! :)

Waiting for the paint to dry!

And this is the finished product!!I hope the kids like them.  Mine sure had fun painting them! Emma & Evan are talking so much more now! It just amazes me how quickly we went from babies to talking toddlers.  They love to sing Jesus Loves Me.  I know they sing it at school but we have to sing it all the time.  They call it "Baby Jesus".  They are also loving singing the blessing right now.  It isn't unusual for us to say the blessing three or more times during our meals these days.  It blesses my heart to hear them...so we let them sing it as much as they want.  Don't even get me started on the 101 Dalmatian movie!! It is seriously getting old but they LOVE it.  They want to watch it all the time!!    In other toddler news...Evan has now used the potty two nights in a row on his own.  We still haven't started "potty" training yet.  But the past two night he has told us he needed to use the potty and once he gets in there...he goes!!  I am so proud of him!!  Yeah...the dreaded potty training is in our near future.  Emma has NO interest!  She just wants the cookie you get as a prize!!  Katie says I have lost my mind but I have started pinning ideas for their 4th birthday!  Yes...that says 4th.  The 3rd birthday party is already planned...remember it is the painting party.  The 4th birthday party is going to be a pajama/breakfast/pillowcase decorating one.  Katie went to a little boy's party a couple weeks ago where they did this and you wouldn't believe all the ideas on Pinterest.  I may be getting a little carried away...but this girl loves to plan a birthday party!! Well, it's consignment season and Lisa just texted me telling me she needs my clothes ASAP...so I've got to work on that!! Hope you have a great week!!

Goodbye 2013!!!

It is hard to believe another year has come and gone!  Time is going by so quickly!  2013 was a good year for us! I started the year off with my thyroid surgery...that thankfully was not cancer.  We went to the mountains for the first time, had lots of play dates at the park, finally made it to Emerald Farms, got Emma's first hair cut, went on a not planned turkey hunt with Daddy, celebrated Easter, had our 1st annual Easter Egg Hunt, went fishing for the first time, celebrated LOTS of friends birthdays, went to one of Daddy's softball games.  We went to the Ware Shoal Cat Feast Festival for the 1st time, we went to the Columbia zoo twice & the Greenville Zoo once, I got a new car, we went to the festival in 96 for the 4th of July for the first time, we went to the Beach with family and friends, spent lots of time outside on our swing set and in the pool.  We celebrated Daddy's birthday and went apple picking, got our first trampoline, went to the Children's Museum, carved our first pumpkins, were Pebbles & Bam Bam for Halloween. We went to Denver Downs pumpkins patch, moved into our own bedrooms, celebrated our 2nd birthday, celebrated Thanksgiving, celebrated my 30th birthday, had our first sleep over at aunt Katie's house, went to Hollywild, celebrated Christmas, and finally rang in the new year with some great friends.!  I'd day that was a pretty busy year!!  Now we are ready for what 2014 is going to bring!  Hopefully it will bring some less stubborn two years olds! :)  I know it is a phase and they won't be like this forever....but if the three's are worse than this I am going to need some medication!  So, how did our New Years Eve go???  Jillian, Jonathan. Bennett, Katie, & Matt came over for supper.  Jillian and Jonathan brought Bennett's 4-wheeler in hopes that is would inspire Evan to ride his tractor.  It didn't work for the tractor but those two had a fun time on Emma's Dunne Racer.  Bennett drove Evan around the yard.  They even hooked up the 2nd speed and it didn't phase Bennett at all.  Emma still wanted no part of it.  Then, we ate and tried to shoot some fireworks.  I knew Emma wouldn't like that but she screamed the entire time we were out there.  She didn't even like the sparklers.  Evan was ok with the sparklers and the roman candles we had...but he was not a fan of anything that made a loud noise.  So, needless to say after a lot of screaming...we stopped the fireworks.  Bennett was a fan of the fireworks.  Then, we tried to roast some marsh mellows.  Emma was still not having any part of being outside so she just continued to cry.  Evan ate his marsh mellow but he wouldn't stick it in the fire.  He did it the other night when it was just me & Justin but he refused last night.  So, after a while with that we headed back inside to play for a while longer.  They all really played good together and we had a great time hanging out with friends.  Here are the couple of pictures Katie took of the night.
Emma crying to go inside.  The bunny & paci weren't enough this time!!

Today, I did my first monogram job.  Granted it was for Katie and she knew she was taking a change letting me do it...but I think they turned out great.

I did all six of them within an hour.  I have that down pat!! I also took a picture of the two things I did earlier in the day while Jillian was here.

She has been helping me get familiar with this machine and I LOVE it!!  I seriously think I could do this all the time and not get tired of it!!   So, now we are getting ready for bed.  It's back to work for us tomorrow.  We are looking forward to a great 2014!!!
