It's off to school we go...

I know I have been posting a lot lately...as if I have time for that! But...I had to share this. Emma & Evan got bookbags for Christmas from Katie & Alison. I decided Wednesday that they should start carrying them to school. The looked so cute with their bookbags on. It was actually funny because everytime we would put it on Emma's back it threw her off balance. Evan didn't even seem to notice it was on his back. Anyway...just want to share a couple pictures of my sweeties heading off to school!!

Where did the weekend go???

It can't already be Monday again. Justin is playing basketball tonight, Emma & Evan are sleeping, the dishwasher is running, the washing machine is running, the Bachelor is on, and I am taking a break from folding clothes to blog for a little while. It seems that a mom's work NEVER ends. Between everything I have to do at home added to a full-time job...this momma stays tired!! :) What did the Turner's do this weekend?? Well, Friday we had planned to meet Katie in town for lunch and a little shopping. Emma & Evan changed those plans. When I got home from work, neither of them had taken a nap or eaten lunch...so we were a little later meeting Katie to shop for Colby's & Caroline's birthday presents. Saturday, Katie & I took Emma & Evan to Colby's birthday party. Again, neither of them had much of a morning nap...so I knew this was going to be an adventure. They did really good until right before the party ended. They were now beyond tired and didn't want us telling them no. Emma pitched a little fit while Katie had her. This was Katie's first public experience with a child pitching a fit. She was so embarrassed. I decided that was our key to leave. Thankfully everything was pretty much over by this time. They slept maybe 30 minutes on the way home and that was it for the day. Justin and I had planned to go out for supper Saturday night. I was a little skeptical that we should just get take out and head back home. After the Fatz parking lot was completely packed and the line at Chili's was out the door...we ended up at Cracker Barrel. Not your typical fast food...but it turned great. Emma & Evan did wonderful. I don't brag on them much because just like earlier in the day...they can easily embarrass us...but they did so good. Maybe we should go out more often when they are exhausted. The girls sitting next to us even complimented us on how well behaved they were. We even had a little fun with hats before we left.

Sunday, we had a great service at South Main and ended our Parenting study in Sunday School.  I have absolutely LOVED that study.  I can really see it being something I use in the future with Emma & Evan.  I already catch myself thinking about some of the things we talked about.  We went and ate lunch at momma's and headed to Caroline's party.  Evan feel asleep maybe 5 minutes before we got there.  Emma...not so much!!  Thankfully this party was outside and Emma was able to run around and have fun.  Evan woke up after we had been there probably 10 minutes and joined in on the eating and playing.  They had a great time at both parties.  I had planned to take my camera and take pictures but I have yet to charge my battery.  So, I didn't get any pictures of my sweeties with the birthday babies.  We ended our Sunday with a trip to Wal-Mart.

That's about it for our weekend.  Hope your's was a fun-filled as ours.  I am looking forward to not having much to do next weekend.  Our mountain trip is coming up soon.  We are READY for a little vacation!!  Have a great week!!

Just thinking...

This week has not been a very good one.  Tuesday night Justin found out he had to go to Tennessee AGAIN and had to leave at 5:00 Wednesday morning.  Thankfully he was able to finish his work on Wednesday and actually drove back home Wednesday night.  He got in about 1:30.  I had E&E all by myself to get ready for school, then when we got home to feed, bathe, & get ready for bed by myself.  Bath time is not fun when you are by yourself.  They did good and acted like good babies for me.  So, that was a relief.  Thursday turned out to be bad day.  We got news first thing that two of the guys, Rick & Jeremy, that fly our company plane for us sometimes were in a plane crash the night before.  Thankfully our old pilot, Skip, wasn't on board this plane.  Skip has actually gone to work for Rick and was actually supposed to be on this flight and got bumped because Jeremy needed the hours.  Rick is in critical condition and thankfully Jeremy walked away unharmed.  The 5 passengers were all killed.  Then, there was a wreck right in front of our office about 2:15.  A guy ran into the back of an 18 wheeler and was killed.  We heard the crash.  Hillary immeditaely called 911.  You could tell the guy in the truck wasn't moving.  An off duty police officer arrived on the scene within minutes and a lady passing by who just happened to be a nurse stopped to help.  I heard her scream he's not breathing and they immediately took him out of the truck and started working with him until EMS arrived.  I have spent the last 24 hours constantly thinking about all these people who lost their life within the past two days.  It really puts into reality how quickly this life can come to an end.  As they drove that man off in the ambulance...there sat his truck and personal belongings that he would never come home too.  I think about this same thing every morning as I  pass right by Phillip Leagues house, an older gentleman from our church who died a few months back, and there sits his truck and house.  It just makes you think, we work and work for all these material things that will just be left behind when it's our time to go.  If most people are honest...they will agree that we spend too much of our time focused on ourselves and things we want rather than worrying about others and the where they will spend eternity.  I don't know the man that died literally just feet away from me yesterday.  I don't know if he was a Christian man.  I don't know if he left behind a family or what his story was...but I do know this has really made me think how I need to be living my life as if there is no tomorrow.  Time is so precious and we really need to be living every second we can for Christ and trying to reach other's for Him!!  I ended my Thursday with a girl's night out.  We went and saw the movie Safe Haven.  It was so good.  But again...it reminded me how quickly I could be taken from this life.  So, from now on...I have lots I need to be doing.  Emma & Evan, who are supposed to be napping...are still awake...so I am going to go spend some time with them.  I might just hold them a little tighter today and be sure they know I LOVE them more than anything...because we just never know what our time is coming.

Pajama Day...

So, I said in my last post I would be posting again today for pajama day!  Emma & Evan both looked so cute for PJ day.  I must admit, I could really go for everyday being pajama day!  My camera battery was dead, like always,  so I had to take these pictures with my cellphone camera.  Those of you who know what my cell phone looks like...you will completely understand why these pictures aren't the greatest.  Anyways....I was able to capture the moment...so that is all that matters!!  Happy Wednesday everyone!!

Evan was not into picture taking this morning.  He is a cutie even if he wouldn't smile or sit up like a big boy!!!

Wow...what a weekend!!!

I am sure you are wondering from the title what went on with the Turner's this weekend.  Well...it didn't quite go like we had planned but it was so much better.  We bought us a new car this weekend!  Our car shopping adventure started last weekend.  We have known for a while now that the Kia just wasn't going to cut it with two babies, but I was dead set that we were not having a car payment right now.  Two babies are expensive enough...not to mention, I just had surgery, I started the babies 529 plans, and my free babysitter has been out of commission for over 2 months now.  Anyway... I had found a couple cars on the internet at CarMax that I wanted to check out.  We had already planned to go to Greenville this weekend to visit Costco.  However... the cars I found were in Columbia so I just figured we would go to the Costco in Columbia instead of Greenville.  Once we got to Newberry...I decided to check and see where Costco is in Columbia....and much to my surprise there isn't one in Columbia.  Just about everywhere there is a Sams there is a Costco...everywhere BUT Columbia! :)  So, we decided to head to Greenville and what should have been a 1 hour trip turned into almost 2 hours.  Emma & Evan were troopers though.  Anyways...we went to Costco and out for supper before we started looking for CarMax in Greenville.  Surely they had to have some cars for us to look at.  Little did I know that when you go to CarMax, you park your car and have to walk through the salesmen to get to the cars. I was not in the mood to talk to a saleman at this point in time...so we rode through a couple of the lots in Greenville and headed home.  I was not in a very good mood at the point and neither were Emma & Evan who had been either riding in the car, a buggy, or sitting in a high chair for the past 5 hours.  Once, we got back home...I decided to check out Bagwell's...one of our local dealerships online.  My family has bought 11 cars from them...12 if you count my new one!  Why didn't I just check there first.  I found a Chevy Traverse that I really liked.  It was a 2009 and had 43,000 miles on it.  So, we rode up there Sunday after church to check it out.  I LOVED IT!!!  I got my dad to call Donnie first thing Monday morning.  He told Daddy what price he would sell it to us for and we told him we would be by on Friday to test drive it.  I knew I wanted it before we left the house Friday but Justin still hadn't made up his mind.  Once he really got to look at the car and drove it...he loved it too!!  It has all kind of features that are great.  It has captain seats as the second row...that slide...and make it EASY to get to the third row.  The sliding seats also make the 3rd row really roomy! Adults can easily fit back there.  It has 2 sunroofs, a back-up camera, and it beeps at you if you get to close to something backing up.  I think this car knew I would need that!!  The trunk space is a decent size even with the back seat up.  That was an advantage over the Tahoe, which is what Justin really wanted when we started talking about a new car.  The Tahoe with the 3rd row seats up...has no trunk space.  Ask Justin!!  He didn't believe Brandon when he told him that so we had to go check it our for ourselves!  The 3rd row seats lay completely flat which is also another plus for when you are traveling and need more trunk space.  AND...it gets better gas mileage than my Kia did.  Who knew I could get a bigger newer car and get better gas mileage.  It was a win win situation!!  I could go on and on about this car.  Can you tell I LOVE IT???  Donnie gave us a great trade-in on my Kia.  So, with the trade-in and the deal on the new cat that he made us...we were able to pay for the car and not have a car payment!!  WOO HOO for us!! :)  That is enough for now about the new car.  I will have to take some pictures and post for you soon!!  Wednesday is PJ day at Emma & Evan's school...so I will be posting again soon about the babies.  This was just a post for me.  I was just super excited about our deal and since Justin is playing basketball and the babies are sleeping...I figured I would blog for a while before I head to bed.  So, come back Wednesday to see how cute E&E look in their new PJ's for Pajama Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Today we are celebrating Emma & Evan's second Valentine's and mine and Justin's 14th Valentine's Day together.  We actually started the celebration yesterday.  Emma and Evan had their 1st Valentine's Day party at school.  As I mentioned in my last post...I found the cutest idea for Valentine's on Pinterest...so of course I had to do it.  Below is a picture of our Valentine's this year.

How cute are these???  I ordered the shovels online a couple weeks back just to be sure they were in on time.  Then, of course the marshmellows and baggies were things I could get locally.  I made the tags one day while I had to answer the phones at work...so it all went well.  I actually helped with Emma & Evan's party at school.  I don't really think they needed me other than to help the kids eat their yogurt...but I was happy to be a part of that fun time with them.  They also celebrated Grandparent's Day at school yesterday.  That was a fun treat for MaMa, PaPa, & Grammie.

So what did Emma & Evan get for Valentine's from mommy & daddy??  They each got a new spring outfit...which they DIDN'T need, some candy approriate for them, a Doc McStuffin's DVD with lots of episodes on it, a new sippy cup with an attachable snack holder (Yes...it was something they didn't really need but it was neat), and some new bibs...that cover most of their bodies.  They are trying to feed themselves more and more and this momma HATES a mess.  So, these should help some.  MaMa & PaPa gave Emma & Evan each a book and a new pair of pj's that will come in mighty handy for PJ Day at school next week.  Is that a coincidence or what??  I think they might have gotten a hint from mommy!! Aunt Katie & Aunt Alison also gave Emma and Evan some books.  They are so lucky to have such sweet thoughtful aunts!!  So, what are mine and Justin's Valentine's Day plans this year??  Not your normal romantic night out.  We will be spending our night with our two littlest loves and wouldn't have it any other way.  We might get to sneak away this weekend for dinner and a movie if either of their willing aunts have the time.  If not...we will get our date in soon!!  Hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day.  We have lots of FUN things happening over the next few weeks...including TWO birthday parties next weekend.  We can't wait to help Colby & Caroline celebrate their 1st  birthdays!!  Check back later to see what is going on with the Turner's!!

A Little of this and a little of that....

We have been busy little bees around the Turner house.  As I type, Emma & Evan are down for their naps!!  We just came in from a little play time outside because it is 65 degrees in February!  Not your typical weather but I'm loving it!! Our outside time was going well until they found the ant hills.  Ant bites and 1 years old aren't something I wanted to tackle...so we came back inside.  Not before I got a few pictures though.  Emma is still not a fan of the swings.  She LOVES the slide but that is about all.  Evan loves it all.  As long as that boy is outside...he is good to go!  That makes his mommy and daddy Happy Campers!!

What's new with Emma & Evan. Well...Emma has learned to climb and she climbs on EVERYTHING!!!  I am not excited about this but she seems pretty proud of herself.  We have a couple pictures of our little climber!  Evan is watching Emma closely and trying to climb himself but chunky monkey can't quite get himself up just yet.  We had to take him to the doctor this week.  He woke up Monday morning and his eye was red.  He had been to the woods the day before with Justin and we weren't sure if something got in it or if it was pink eye.  Thanksfully it wasn't pink eye.  While we were there the doctor FINALLY gave him an antibiotic for his cough and congestion that he has had for 3 weeks.  She didn't give us anything for Emma...just more cough medicine.  Evan weighed in at 25lb 10oz.  He is a big boy and I love every bit of him.  Him & Emma both will give you hugs and kisses when you ask for them and it seriously make my heart smile each time!! Speaking of hearts...I decided to do the Heart 4 Kids program this year that His Radio...our local Christian station...is putting on.  Each year a few weeks before Valentine's Day, they get people to make homemade Valentine's Day cards and mail them in.  Then on Valentine's Day they take them to sick little children in the hospital. I heard on the radio this week that sometimes a child has gotten betwen 50 & 60 Valentine's day cards.  Of course that depends on how many cards they receieve and how many kids are in the hospital...but that is awesome.  I thought this would be a fun tradition to start with Emma & Evan.  Plus, it is a reminder of how thankful we should be that our babies are healthy!!  So, the whole family...Justin included...have been working on these cards.  Emma & Evan didn't do to much because I didn't want them ruining the cards but I did let them glue the eyes on.  Actually I put the glue on and they stuck it to the card.  I am not brave enough to give them glue just yet!! :)  See below our process and the finished product!  I think they are adorable!

I think they were pretty cute!!

Also, I decided I wanted to make a Valentine treat for the kids in Emma & Evan'c class this year.  I found the CUTEST idea ever on Pintrest!  The last part of my idea arrived in the mail yesterday so you will have to check back next week for the big reveal of the Valentine Day project. Twice a year Switcharoos have a HUGE consignment sale in Greenville & Spartanburg.  People sell their gently used clothes at cheap prices.  We have a couple of these local consignment sales in Greenwood but nothing like Switcharoos.  Me & momma had planned to go Friday when it opened to the public...but a girl at work has passes to get in early before it opens.  So, me & momma headed to Greenville today to shop for some Spring & Summer clothes.  Boy did we find some clothes.  I got Emma 16 new outfits and Evan 19 new outfits plus 2 bathing suits. I didn't really even spend that much money so Justin was glad.  Here are my steals of the day!!
Emma's new outfits!

                                                                Evan's new outfits!!

We also celebrated one of my best friends 30th birthday last night at the Village Grill.  She didn't know anything about it and was so surprised!!  Boy do I love good surprises!!  That;s about it for this week in the Life of a Turner...Until next time...
