Lights of the South

In all my 31 years...I have never heard of a little place just about an hour away in Grovetown, Ga called "Lights of the South"!  I saw someone mention it on Facebook and decided we needed to check it out.  We love to ride around and look at Christmas lights, and we had nothing going on last Saturday...so we took off!  We had planned to just stop somewhere quick and grab supper on the way down.  Let me just tell you...there is nothing but one Hardee's in McCormick between Ninety Six & Grovetown!  We got there right at 6:00...when it opened...and you wouldn't believe the long line of people waiting to get in.  I now know why...it was so much fun!  The place is over 100 acres and has over 5 MILLION lights.  There were lights EVERYWHERE!  They had about 6 tractors pulling double trailers and they were moving non-stop!  So, we loaded up and headed down through the lights.  They had everything the manager scene & Noah's ark, to every kind of Disney movie you can think of, Just random scenes like a fire truck, and a barn with farm animals. (You know Evan LOVED that!) They had Santa's toy shop, the American flag with the Statue of Liberty.  They had all the symbols of the armed forces.  They had Christmas trees and Santa in the sleigh with reindeer.  Like I said...it was unbelievable how many lights there were!  You ended up in a HUGE castle that was so pretty.  They had a restaurant/grill there so we decided to eat there and it was yummy!  They had big fire pits for roasting marshmallows and they had a lighted maze to walk through. We didn't do the maze but if we get to go back...we will attempt that.  Plus, we will go before Christmas next year because Santa is there!  We had such a fun night.  Justin took pictures of just about every scene but some of them just look like a big blob of lights.  So, here are the ones that turned out pretty good!

Here we are loaded up and ready for the hay ride to start!

And this was the beginning...

These were the three wise men and of course the manager scene!

Noah & the Ark and the rainbow!

A peacock!

The barn and some of the animals!

Spiderman!

The huge American flag

Statue of Liberty, planes and soldiers

Arch into Santa's land

Santa's house and you can see Santa in the sleigh and his reindeer behind the house!

And this is where you ended.  Isn't it beautiful??  Reminds me of Disney World!

So, maybe next year if any of you are looking for a quick little fun family road trip...I suggest giving the Lights of the South a visit!!
