Our last day at school...

Today was a kind of bittersweet day!  This is the last day of school for Emma & Evan.  They will be starting the summer program at South Main in a week...but I can't believe it has already been a year since they started.  They have grown so much!!  Here are their pictures from their first day compared to pictures on their last day.

Where did my babies go??? They went from barely crawling in the first picture to barely sitting still in the second picture.  I was just sitting here looking through the books and pictures E&E's teacher sent home.  I actually started crying thinking about how quickly they are growing!  Mrs. Linda & Mrs. Kim took such good care of my babies this year.  I am beyond grateful that they are in a Christian daycare and just pray that the things they are learning even at their early age will help make them a good Christian boy & girl one day!! As sad as it makes me that I don't have babies anymore...we are truly enjoying watching them grown and learn.  These little bundles of energy are so much fun!!  Since Emma & Evan have come along...I have tried to do fun things with them and for them.  My latest attempt was making gifts for Emma & Evan to give their classmates and teachers on the last day of school.  Of course...I went straight to Pinterest and found the CUTEST ideas.  And they were extremely cheap too!  Here is a picture of their teacher gifts:

Just in case you can't read the card...It says "Thanks for helping us grow!"  How cute is that??  And now for our classmate gifts...

These are straws with a packet of Kool-Aid.  The little tags say "Have a KOOL summer!"  I thought they were adorable as well.  We found the straws at Dollar General and the packets of Kool-Aid at the grocery store.  These will definitely be a must for the next few years!!  And one last Pinterest idea.  For Easter Emma & Evan both got the book "Oh, The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss.  The idea behind this is to get their teacher to sign their book every year and them give it to them at graduation.  Not really sure I will be following them through high school getting their teachers to sign this book...but for now...I think it is a cute idea!  Emma & Evan don't really care that I am going to great lengths to do fun things for them...but I sure hope they will appreciate it one day!!  Well, naptime is over...so until next time...we will be enjoying our little ones because time is sure flying by!!  Happy Friday!! :)

Not the weekend we had planned....

Friday afternoon Justin made it home just like planned.  I would have been at the airport waiting on him had traffic not be at a dead stand still on I-85!!  Once again...I braved the interstate by myself with Emma & Evan.  I-385 wasn't bad at all...can't say the same for the rest of the trip.  We picked Justin up and by the time we got back into the area we are familiar with in Greenville...it was time for supper.  We ate real quick and decided we would try the Catfish Festival.  The closer we got to Ware Shoals...the sleepier our two little munchkins became and we decided to head on home.  We got here about 8:30.  They had to have baths because we were heading to the zoo Saturday morning.  This was an awful bath time.  They were sleepy and did NOT want to take a bath.  Anyway...we survived and they were out in no time.  They sleep all night without making a peep!  We were supposed to be at Lauren & Brian's at 9:30 Saturday morning.  I got up and showered like normal and thought I would lay back down for a while.  We woke up at 8:30!  Talk about rushing!  Emma & Evan were both still asleep!  That NEVER happens anymore!!  We made it to Lauren's about 9:45 and believe it for not they were ready and waiting for us.  We loaded up and headed to Columbia.  By the time we got to the Zoo...there were NO parking places and the line to just get in the gate was almost as long as the parking lot.  We decided to go ahead and eat lunch and come back to see if any people had left.  When we came back they were turning people around and wouldn't even let us in.  Apparently every one else thought this would be a great weekend to go to the zoo.  We rode all the way to Columbia to eat at Zaxby's!   We decided to stop by the Sportsman Warehouse and Babies-R-Us before heading home.  It was definitely a disappointment but we got to spend some time with great friends!  We decided to head over to the Catfish festival Saturday night.  Katie & Matt met us there.  We rode a couple rides.  The first was the Carousel.  I knew Emma wouldn't be a fan of the moving animals but we figured Evan would.  Emma & I sat behind Evan & Justin in a car that didn't move.  Great idea because after it started and Evan wasn't a fan of the moving horse...Justin just took him off the horse and sat down beside us.  Here is a picture of that ride:

Then, we rode a little train.  Me & Justin had a hard time getting in and out of this train because we were WAY too big...but it was worth it because Emma & Evan liked this a whole lot more.  The picture is horrible of me and Justin and you can tell we had to lean over most of the time because we were too tall...but this was more their speed.

Of course before we left we had to get a funnel cake.  Emma & Evan LOVED the funnel cake but so do Justin and I...so they get that honest!!  We went to church this morning and to my mom's for lunch like always.  Justin finally spread out the sand Marty gave us and we decided we needed more and that we will just put sand around their entire play yard.  That is a work in progress...so pictures will have to come later.  Justin finally uncovered the pool and it isn't near as bad as it has been in the past.  Hopefully by next weekend...it will be swimmable!!  Justin is out on the lake now putting out jugs and my dryer just went off...so that is my calling to get off the computer..  Hope you guys enjoy your Memorial Day and that you take a few minutes to honor those who fought for our Freedom and lost their lives, the ones who survived, and the ones currently serving!  It is my prayer that God will protect these people and truly let them know how thankful we are!!  On a side note...Jeremy Pileggi called Justin this week.  He's doing good and it was great to hear from him.  He's definitely one we are keeping in our daily prayers!!  Happy Memorial Day!!

Hooray for Friday!!!

I don't like to wish my life away...but I am so glad it is finally Friday!!  Justin has been in Portland, Oregon all week for work and his is coming home TODAY!!!  I've had Emma & Evan all by myself all week and I am one TIRED momma.  We left home Sunday morning at 7:00 and drove Justin to GSP to catch his first flight from Greenville to Atlanta.  I was trying to be a good wife and drive him so he wouldn't have to drive by himself.  I didn't realize that to get to GSP, you first have to get on I-385 and then I-85 and that after dropping Justin off... I would be traveling home by myself, with two babies, on the interstate, in the rain!!! We made it though!!  Thank goodness for DVD players!!  We didn't get home until 10:30.  That was 3 & 1/2 hours of straight driving!! Justin's flight from Atlanta to Salt Lake City was delayed because of weather...so Justin missed his flight from Salt Lake City to Portland.  After delays and missed flights...Justin finally got to his hotel Sunday night at 1:00 or 4:00 our time. Portland is 3 hours behind us in time.  That was 21 hours of traveling!!  He was exhausted. Our week has been about normal.  Emma & Evan were pretty well-behaved all week!!  I had a lot of people praying for me!! :) Thankfully 1) they have eaten good this week (no fighting with them to get them to eat!!) 2) Bath time wasn't a nightmare (we only got water all over the floor one time!!), 3) and they have slept in their own cribs all night every night (except for a little while Wednesday night!!)  I could never be a single mom!!  Justin drives me absolutely crazy sometimes...but life without him is HARD!!!  He was a sweetie and sent me flowers on Monday.  He knew I would be stressed having them all week by myself!!  Here are my flowers...

So, Justin should arrive in Greenville this afternoon at 5:10 and we will be there waiting to pick him up.  We haven't decided if we are heading to the Catfish Festival after we pick him up or just spending some time in Greenville.  Either way...we will just be glad he is HOME!!!  We are heading to the Zoo tomorrow with Lauren, Brian, & Colby.  Look for that post & lots of pictures to come later this weekend!! Praying for safe travels, no delays/problems, and an overall great Friday!!

Is the weekend gone already...

I can't believe it is already Sunday night.  Where did the weekend go and what did we do??  Friday night...we went to eat supper with Jillian & Jonathan at the camp ground.  We had such a fun night chatting and trying to keep up with busy little toddlers!!  One would think that as much as I chase Emma & Evan that I would be the skinniest I have ever been.  I'm not sure what's wrong with this picture!! Justin had to go out of town on a trip with work AGAIN...so we headed to town Saturday morning to get all my groceries, diapers, & everything else I will need for the week.  Needless to say...I am stocked up!!  On our way home...we decided to stop by and see the animals in Ollie's parking lot.  It is really random that these animals are in the parking lot...but hey it was free, cheap entertainment...for Evan at least!!   Here are a couple pictures from our stop.  For those of you on Facebook that also read my blog...sorry for all the repeats on the pictures.  I just want them on the blog so when I print the blog I can have a caption with the pictures!!
Justin helping Evan feed the goats.

He then decided he was big enough to do it by himself!

He still wasn't sure about the llama though...so Daddy helped!

We decided to let him ride the pony.  Emma panicked when I got close trying to take Evan's picture.  My sweet girl isn't an animal lover!!

He seemed to like it.  He may grow up to be a cowboy!!

Speaking of things Evan may grow up to do...I think this boy may be a future basketball player.  Since the weather has been warmer, we are spending lots of time outside.  Evan & Emma both have played with the little basketball we have but we haven't ever brought out the goal.  I actually tried to get Justin to get rid of it a couple years ago.  This past week...we decided to pull it out and introduce Evan to basketball.  It was unreal that as soon as Justin pulled the goal out Evan knew exactly what to do.  He immediately started trying to shoot and he was pretty good at it.  I really do not like basketball but if my sweetie decided this is his sport...I will be in the stands cheering him on!  Here are a couple pictures of my sweetie playing b-ball and one of my little future cheerleader!!
Evan taking a shot!

Love this picture of my little guy!!  He's growing too fast!!

And of course...my sweet pea!!  She was helping me take pictures!!

He had to try by himself!!  Got to love the paci!!

He was ready to grab the ball when Daddy missed!! :)

Okay and here is one last picture of my sweeties!!  They had class pictures taken at school last week and Jillian shared this one with me.  It is extremely hard to get a picture of Emma & Evan sitting still beside each other...much less one where they are both smiling!!  I could eat these two cuties up!!

Hope you all have a great week!!

Our first boo boo's ...

Okay, so a couple weeks ago, I was in our bedroom and heard this loud crash.  Of course, I went running into the kitchen to find Justin scooping Evan up.  Justin was supposed to be watching them...but instead he had gotten interested in a golf tournament on TV and had taken his eyes off our two little munchkins.  Anytime without supervision is a disaster waiting to happen with these two!  Evan had grabbed the table runner on my table and pulled on it, causing one of the glass plates to fall off and shatter everywhere.  Then him and Emma proceeded to run through it trying to get to Justin because the loud noise scared them to death.  Of course Evan's foot was bleeding and we later realized Emma's was too.  So, Justin ran over to the sink and started washing it off while I went to get peroxide, Neosporin, & band aids.  In little to no time they were all bandaged up and playing again.  Let me add...that this ended up being my fault because I had the table runner on the table in the first place.  It wasn't the fact that Justin was too interested in the TV.  I can say all this because he never reads my blog!! :) Well, I came home from work tonight and as I walked in the door Justin is screaming at me that Evan burned himself.  I was on the phone with momma so I immediately hung up on her and ran to grab something to put on the burn.  All I could find was aloe...but I thought that had to be better than nothing.  We put that on and called the doctor to see what she thought we needed to do.  Justin had the oven on warming up because he was cooking supper (I have to give him credit because he had been helping out tremendously lately). The outside of our oven doesn't get hot but apparently the drawer underneath gets very hot.  Evan was pulling out one of my pans and stuck his arm up against it and burned himself pretty good.  Dr. Fuqua told us to just get some over the counter burn cream and to wrap it up and if it looked worse tomorrow to bring him in.  So, we jumped in the car and ran to town.  We got some cream and bandaged him all up.  The skin was already peeling off when we started doctoring on it.  Hopefully it won't hurt him too bad.  It only takes a few seconds for things to happen.  Although it could have been much worse...I think my little fella is going to be just fine.  He's a tough cookie!! I am proud that I handled both of these situations pretty calmly!  Yay for me!! :)  Happy Tuesday!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was my second Mother's Day!  I believe this has to be one of my most favorite days.  Not only because it is a day all about me but I also get to celebrate my WONDERFUL mother.  She has always been special to me but since I have become a mother myself...words can't describe how important she has become to me.  If it hadn't been for her generosity that allowed Justin and me to live with her for 11 weeks where she practically did everything for me to living with me almost the first 2 weeks of Emma & Evans life...I don't think 1) that they would have made it into this world so health or 2) that I would have survived the first few weeks.  Or better yet...the first year and a half!!  She is truly a life-saver.  So, my day started off great!  Justin, Emma & Evan gave me a cute hummingbird feeder and some candy.  Emma & Evan brought me my candy then proceeded to tear into it...so I think they enjoyed my gift a little too much.  I knew what I was getting because I picked it out! It came from Wyatt Farms.  If you ever need some cute outside things...go there.  I even already have gifts in mind for next mother's day...but anyways!!  Justin cooked us biscuits for breakfast and we headed to church!  Here are some pictures of me with my sweeties before church!

What an armful of sweetness!!  They are almost to big for me to hold at the same time anymore!!

This morning sermon was on Eunice.  She is only mentioned this one time in the bible and it focuses on how important a Godly mother is to her children.  I especially enjoyed it because that was my great grandma's name.  Eunice was a Godly woman who passed that down to her son Timothy.  In my life, there will never be a more godly man than my grandpa was...and that was partly because he had a Godly mom.  Then, in Sunday School, the guys cooked us breakfast and dedicated the whole hour to us.  They were given questions to have our kids answer about us and then each one told what we mean to them.  Of course, Emma & Evan were too small to answer the questions but Justin's little speech about me made me cry.  It was so sweet!  I think every woman in there was crying after their husbands finished.  It was a special morning!!  Then, we headed over to Katie's for lunch.  Of course she out did herself.  She should be a caterer!!  Everything was so delicious. She even made my mom her favorite dessert...blackberry cobbler with woven crust that you vary rarely see anymore.  Emma & Evan even enjoyed that!!  After lunch...we headed to Justin's mom to celebrate with them.  Justin took his fishing pole, so we could see if Emma & Evan liked fishing.  They were only interested for a little while...mainly because we didn't catch anything!!  Their attention spans are very short!!  Then, Justin and Evan practiced a little T-Ball.  Corley is playing this year and brought all his stuff with him.  Evan tried really hard to hit the ball himself and did once...but it was much easier when Daddy helped.  Here are some pictures from our afternoon.
Evan with his worm!

Doing a little fishing!!

This is one of my favorite pictures of them!!

Emma checking out what Justin is doing!

Evan's attempt at T-Ball without help!  He knocked the ball backwards!

This time was much better!!

These two little munchkins are my life and I am so glad God chose me to be their mom!!  I had a great Mother's Day and hope all you other mom's out there did too!! :)

Yay for warmer dryer weather!!

In my post last week...I talked about all the cold weather and rain we had gotten.  Well, this week has been more like May weather, with sunshine and 70 to 80 degrees.  I am normally off on Wednesday & Friday afternoons each week, but my dad had to have some test run this afternoon...so this week I get to enjoy three afternoons off in a row.  I could get use to this!! :)   We have been outside constantly this week.  Emma & Evan LOVE outside.  It is a fight to get them to come inside to even eat supper.  Here are some pictures of our fun outside time!!

First...Evan helped Daddy cut the grass.  He loves riding on the lawn mower.

Next, we finally broke out the sidewalk chalk E&E got for Easter.  They loved it too!

My sweet boy getting so big!

It's a family event now...since Daddy joined in.

My sweet girl!!

Then, since Daddy won't get our big pool ready...Mommy pulled out the baby pool!

And Emma loved the water.
Evan had to warm up to it...but he finally did.

Then, we had popsicles...

Grape seems to be a favorite!

Then, we played on our tricycles....

And finally we found the lovely go-cart taking up space in the garage.  Justin swears this thing will be up and running soon.  Actually it already runs...the brakes just don't work.  You just have to go until it comes to a stop or hit something...but that's not dangerous is it???

That pretty much sums up our afternoons at home. Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful weather!!

The Simple Things in Life...

As you all know...this weekend has been a rainy one.  We have been cooped up inside too much this weekend.  So, as soon as the sunshine broke through this afternoon...we jumped on the chance to get outside.  As you can imagine there were mud puddles everywhere & it only took Emma & Evan about 2 seconds to find one.  They were having so much fun stepping in and out of the water...that I just let them have at it.  That was until Emma fell and was soaking wet.  Then it was time to change clothes and head inside.  Here is a short video of our afternoon fun!!

It reminds us of how the simple things in life can bring such joy!!  Have a great week!!!

What are the Turner's up to???

Well, this has been a week about like normal.  Emma & Evan were both in very good moods Monday morning as we were getting ready for school.  Justin was able to catch a picture of a random hug Evan decided to give Emma.  Here is the picture...

How sweet are my babies???  On our way to school every morning...I always make it a point to say our prayers for the day and to sing some songs with them.  You all know Evan LOVES to sing.  He joined in with me singing his ABC's.  He wouldn't say them all but would randomly sing certain letters when I would get to them.  He is such a smarty!!  Emma was too busy taking her shoes off to join in on the singing fun.  I don't know why I bother even putting them on her until we get to school. Monday night we finally started working on getting our pool ready.  It has taken us almost a week to get the water off the top of the pool cover.  We haven't even started working on the green water underneath.  One of these years...Justin is going to winterize the pool like he is supposed to...so it won't be a nightmare when we uncover it.  I am holding onto the hope that I will one day have a in the ground pool.  Justin has finally said he would like that too...so there is hope that my dream may one day come true.  Until then...we are going to enjoy the one we have!! :)  Hopefully it will be ready before July this year!!  Tuesday, I had to go to a conference in Charlotte.  It was such a long and boring day!  Not only did I have to sit and listen to people talk for 6 and 1/2 hours in the same room...but Evan decided not to sleep much Monday night.  So his momma didn't sleep and had to fight to stay awake all day.  I couldn't believe of all nights, he chose Monday night to cry on and off for several hours.  Then, as soon as he quit...Emma started!  Wednesday ended turkey hunting season, so of course Justin went one more time.  I thought it ended on the 30th...but this year they could hunt May 1st as well.  Go figure!! Thursday & Friday were rainy and cold.  Pretty much all week was rainy and cold!!  It is May now...where is our spring weather??? Saturday, we were supposed to have a table at the town wide yard sale, but when we got up and it was rainy, cold, & extremely windy...we decided against selling at the yard sale.  Justin and I did go down there for a while to look around...but even that didn't last long.  I am NOT a fan of yard sales.  It is mostly just JUNK that some else is trying to get rid of.  We have enough of our own junk that we don't need to buy other people's junk!  Saturday afternoon, we went to Carter Evan's 2nd birthday party at Emerald Farms.  It poured rain the majority of the time we were there.  I hated that for Carter...but the rain didn't stop our fun.  Here are some pictures from the party...
Evan getting ready to take a swing!

He did pretty good by himself.  Maybe Justin practicing baseball with him is already paying off!!

Emma decided to give it a try!

Jacob wanted to help!

These three enjoying cake & other goodies!!

Emma having fun climbing on the chairs!

Aunt Katie and Evan...and he's still eating!

These are just a few pictures of our fun time at Carter's birthday party.  After the party we headed to town and over to Aunt Katie' to work on a Mother's Day gift for my mom and Justin's mom.  Here are a couple pictures of work in progress and the finished project...thanks to Pinterest.

Getting all our supplies ready.  They are anxiously waiting to start painting!!

Here we go painting Emma's hand!

Trying hard to make it perfect!

And another shot!

The finished product!!

I knew it would be safe to post this picture here because my mom will NEVER figure out how to look at my blog by herself!!  We ended this lovely rainy day with supper and a baby Einstein DVD.  I told you these two are mesmerized by these DVD's.  They stood right here almost the whole 30 minutes watching the TV. These DVD's are lifesavers when we can't go outside!!

This is a quick little update about some things going on with the Turner's.  Let's just hope the rain slacks off for a while and the weather warms up.  We are ready for some more OUTSIDE time.  Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend!!
